Hello to fellow FreakBikers!! I have been lurking here and on Rat Rod bikes for some time and have decided to join!! My name is Brian or snowworks. I live in S. E. MI. (Detroit area).. I grew up in the thumb of MI. I have always been involved with bikes as long as I remember. I rebuilt a few with my dads help back in the day. I cannot tell you how many bikes I have because I do not know. Lots!! I like all types of ridding. Freakbiking is really great!! Recreation ride, I road ride some and MTB also. I really got into the MTB in the early 2000,s with my Son, went out a couple of time a week at Mayberry State park. Last year 2014 we rode with the freakbike nation on Bell Isle in April, and later went down to VA on vacation and took some bikes and did my first downhill ride on the ski hill. What a rush!! Back to my history, my first freakbike would have been the tandem I built in the 70,s for a blind friend I helped. Then at least we could ride around the small town. I still have the Tandem !! I have built many freak bikes for my kids. Upside down, Lowbuck Lowride and a few others. My kids always had a few bikes to pick from. The neighborhood kids always wondered where my kids got there bikes... Just build it!! Last year 2014 I finished up my stacked bike and have really like ridding that one. It looks like a small chopper!! Dialed it in. I also repaired a 20" I scraped picked and sold that. Then I also picked on a Mongoose MTB aluminum that needed a rear wheel and some dialing in. That one rides good but it is a low cost MTB so it does not ride the best off road. That will be my guest bike!. Then I picked up another bike that was all grey primmer. YEP, wheels, tires, controls, seat all primmer. I thought it would be a good parts bike... Got to looking and holy cow it is a Trek 930!! Front suspension, hard tail, Chrome Moly, MTB!! I could not part that one so it took lots of time and that citrus paint remover but I got all the primer off and repaired what I need to make it a NICE hard tail MTB!! I guess I can post pic on here so I will as I can. One other item is down here near Detroit we have Hines Drive great place to ride bikes. How about a freakbike ride if there is some people who want to ride any bike. Family event. We will have to set a date and just do it.. FREAKY snowworks !!

Thanks Chainsaw. I am Freaky Now!!! I will have to watch what is going on in the Great Lakes region. I know now I will not make the Owaaso meet in August. I have 3 things I want to do but only one weekend!! For that August 9.. Do I have to wait to put up a profile pic. ?? I think I need to make it a thumbnail.. I have lots of Freaky Ideas for bikes I want to build so I will keep it posted here!! Right now I am just getting all my bikes out and prep them for ridding. I also picked up a Manta Ray (Late one OCC style). Picked up a set of high bars for that at the Ann Arbor show. It just needs cleaning and dialed in. I pulled the front wheel apart tonight and it was way tight and maybe a drop of grease. Cleaned it up and repacked the brearings and adjusted them up and it rolls like butter.. Later Snowworks

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, Snow. had a hysterectomy the week before Ann Arbor and couldn't make it out that weekend. Then it's been school and doctor's appointments since then. Hopefully things are leveling off now and I can spend more time on the board. We did go yesterday and look over a park that we may do a ride at. Its near Grand Blanc, so stay tuned!

My brain must be mush today ....... Glad you figured out the avatar! Sorry I wasn't here to help.
Also looking forward to what you Freak-a-size!
I'm still trying to sort out, clean up and organize every thing. I haven't ridden since Belle Isle and I'm itching to. Might have to break out a bike tomorrow and bop around town.

Chainsaw, Not to worry. Sounds like you have your hands full!! I hope is recovering well. That is a major operation.. I hope she is back to normal soon. I always liked the Mata Rays of 71-72. But the cost of them are out of site. $500, for one that need to be restored.. Not me. I have seen the new Manta Ray or the OCC Manta as I call it. The one I got needs some work and I will make it so I can ride it. Different seat, bars and some other items. I always like the Springer front also never had a bike with a springer. I need a chain guard for it I would like to get a original one for it, but I need to get it rideable first and then see about a chain guard. Needs some cleaning (rusty). But it is coming around. I may not ride it much but it will look nice for ME!! Wish speedy recovery!! Later Brian

As a kid ... .... fat kid ..... , I wanted the Manta of the 70s in the worst way! I almost got one in '72 but everyone talked be out of it. The "English Racers" were the hot ticket in our town, so I ended up with a Schwinn Varsity ten speed, as close to an English Racer that I could get in my Podunk town. Not a fat kid bike especially for one who liked to ride the trails and do wheelies! It lasted about two years before it was totaled out.
