the two top metal backing plates are welded to the sissy bar. the seat and lowest pad will bolt on. put a couple t-nuts in each just to keep them in place. each will get more when I get to padding.
I got some vinyl I like. wasn't part of the original idea (an all black bike with just some a little red), but is in a way. I guess i'll be trying to make the pads myself, but I'm meaning to go back to other parts of the bike for now. I figure I can sit on the wood for any test rides since they'll probaly be short.

I like how this is going. The three back pads will look great. They really flow nicely. Keep'em coming!

got this vinyl on ebay for $10/yard and thought it would work for me but,
the pattern is way bigger than I thought it would be. I wish the heads were 1/4 the size they are, or even much less). I think I can still use it, if I center the pad on a face (smallest pad shown). I might be able to get a whole face on the lowest pad and the seat. i'll see when I get more serious about cutting it. I want some black vinyl for the sides if I do it.
thinking about getting a heavy duty sewing machine. been wanting one even though I can barely sew (my mother could sew nearly anything. wish I had paid more attention). found a local deal, but still deciding 'cause it's still gonna cost a good few bucks. we'll see

I love the pattern but see what you mean about the size. It's cool though! I can see some cool patches though for a vest. Would also make a cool stove pipe hat! If you get the sewing machine, you have all kinds of possibilities!

a rare two day weekend. gave the chopper a couple hours of it
gas tank, oil tank and brake levers
west coast chopper tank. I have a couple around the house and decided to put one on to fill in the gap between the seat and handlebars. I took this off a complete bike, but I think I have one sitting around somewhere. if I find it I may try doing more to it, cut it open and put something in it or something.
I think on some forum or another I showed these before. brake levers for a triathlon bike. an idea from the chopper bike forum (so long ago now I can't remember who had the idea).
oil tank, really just a kitchen flour/sugar type container. I had to buy the set of four, but it was a thrift store buy so it was still just a few bucks, and a good thing because I really need to change it out. I messed up and put the lever under the tube so I can't open it. I welded it on yesterday, stuck it back in the garage and went for a motorcycle ride (like I said a two day weekend is rare so I was trying to get all in I could) I didn't realize I couldn't open it 'til I took the pic this morning.
I waited 'til I had done these things to post another pic, but the real important progress has no pic. I got the suspension pieces I needed to complete the widened pivot and put a front tire on without the quick release. that means now it's a bike that's been ridden. not very far. a few rides up and down the street and once around the block, but now it's a somewhat rideable bike.
it was a liitle cramped like I feared, but not enough to stop working on it. finally found some dence padding I needed for the seat section I think (haven't got it yet), and I'm hoping to get another inch or two of leg room out of that. I think I'm not going to use the red skull vinyl, but I still don't have a way of sewing the pads so I may change my mind again.
so I think I'm going to switch back to a bit of mechcanical again, maybe rear brakes and gears.
still working on it.
