Nothing worse that the sound of a tire popping from someone putting air in their tires at the meetup.
Put in the air tonite.
And don't forget to put some fresh batteries in your bike lights.
Gettin excited for another Choppernite.
See you there!

Tonite, June 21 is the Summer solstice, the longest day of the year.
What better way to enjoy the long summer evening than riding bikes with friends.
See you there!

The best part about Chppernite rides is seeing old friends and making some new ones.
It was nice to see first time riders Jordan and Sarah, I hope they come back to ride again.
There were lots of old friends to see too. It was great to see Jack The Bike Man and his crew, they brought a lot of cool bikes, one was the Big John's - John Deere Tractor bike piloted by master bike mechanic Ilya. Lots of work went into making the John Deere trike rideable, and it deservedly won Bike of the nite Trophy.
Thanks to Hurricane Andy for corking the ride, he had to walk the final few blocks to his car because of a flat tire. Time for a wheel upgrade from his parts stash.
It was nice to see BMX Pete on a chopper he built in a day just for Choppernite. He showed off his "Grab and Fab" skills and won the Junkman's Choice Cup. Pete volunteered to make a Facebook presence for Choppernite 57 Halloween ride in October.
John Eastwood and quite a few others showed up on some really cool folding bikes. Small wheels rock!
Thanks to all who made Choppernite 57 a fun ride!

AAAARRGHHHHH!!!!! ANd then it erases my previous post of a recap. Now my train is coming. Very mad, but will try again later.
Sorry TIII

Just checking, TIII are you using Photobucket?
They are no longer going to be 3rd party hosts for free.
Look what happened to my pic I posted on post 1.
Photobucket wants $399.00 a year to post my pics.
Are there any FREE photo hosting sites I can move over to? IDK

Having problems with me being lazy (confession) and photobucket getting sooooooo slow and littered with ads and pop ups. Now using postimg.org. Very simple but ... we'll see how it goes. Here is BMXer Pete with his Junkman Cup winning bike. NOT a slam, even he would tell you how easy this was put together. I believe HE said it was done THAT day if not that week. The Cup is awarded to the Freakbike rider who did the MOST with the least to show you dont need a huge budget, a welder on retainer, or a professional shop. Time, desire, and MAYBE some minimal simple tools and your off to the races.
This fellow below is Illya. Not positive on the spelling, but he deservedly won our Bike of The Nite Cup with some excellent work he's done on one of Gatekeepers old Freakbikes. Gatekeeper donated a lot of his old art bikes to Jack the Bike Man, where Illya got ahold of Gatekeepers old John Deere tractor bike. This bike was featured in The Palm Beach Post back in late 90's.
And finally, there's this chap. I WAS sober (truth) but I forgot his name. He BUILT this pictured bike after taking a bike building course in Japan. I would now like to REignite the debate if a one off frame builder building what no big company will build that he likes, is THAT builder a Freakbike builder even thought it's not a chopper, tallbike, burrito, art bike etc? I say yes. If it was a bike that builder built that was LIKE one you could get somewhere else, they're an idiot. Look closely and you'll see details not found on off the shelf road or track bike. A hand brazed and filed steel frame with track dropouts, minimal toe overlap WITH a straight fork, seat stays bolted to the seat collar to flex JUST enough where flex is OK, a rear brake bridge only to use to attach a fender or a rack, etc. In my opinion, Freakbike to maybe only the trained eye, but a Freakbike none the less.
Sorry for such a let reply. Nothing but excuses and maybe a reason or two, but we got it. TIII
