Wednesday, March 20, 2019. Old school riders knew this. Meet up is around 6:30 or 7:00pm. Different people need more or less time to get their wheels on.
7:30pm ride out SHARP!!!

As of right now, we do NOT have an official theme. WHEN we have an official theme, i'm going to play the leader card, it will be posted/confirmed by me. BUT we WILL have a theme and it probably will NOT be in your comfort zone :-). Soon. I won't sit on this.

You do NOT have to have a chopperbike bike or even a FREAKBike but it MIGHT HELP! ANYone on ANY bike is welcome but FREAKBIKES HIGHLY encouraged. It's not unheard of for Freakbikes to get preferential parking, Freakbike rider only minigames etc. Don't have one? Borrow one. Buy one. Or, WHOA(!) MAKE one!


Helmets are HIGHLY encouraged but kids under 16 need a helmet as required by law.


LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED as per sate law when riding after dark. It WILL be dark so math says LIGHTS ARE REQUIRED.


Brakes on your bike HIGHLY encouraged. If you INSIST on riding brakeless, PLEASE ride in the back. (Fixed, I’ll call 'with brakes' because I know. Flintstone brakes (shoes) are NOT brakes.) If you insist on doing tricks on a group ride, you need to grow up. It's not the night for it.


We meet on Washington Rd, in the street. A little South of the corner of Washington Rd and Southern Blvd. It's a very calm street.


No parking at the Greek Church. Street parking is ok, but none of the lots, gravel, paved, front, back, etc. Through NO fault of our own. And they asked nicely so I say we oblige out of the respect they have given our group over the years.

Again, ride out is 7:30pm sharp. Every... Choppernite.

My list of themes is on my external hard drive. My external hard drive has its own power supply. Finding a computer to use that I can USB plug my external hard drive into that has a 110V outlet nearby is a challenge. 
SO since I cant access our master list of themes, and only Junkman votes when i put it to a pole, i'm deciding a theme for Choppernite 63. 
This will be easy.
TALL and LONG is our theme. Tallest bike and longest bike will win a prize. 
Conditions:
Winning bikes will be ridden for Choppernite, the entire length of our event. Prize will be won at the ghost of the old library, but given to winner at Southern and Washington after the ride is over.
Tallest bike will be mounted by the rider with NO help from signs, trees, people, curbs etc. Anything rider uses to mount the bike will be moving WITH the rider, like a peg, or maybe a pole or gaff. 
Longest bike will be measured from the furthest back point of the bike that is off the ground (no dragging stuff) to the furthest front part that is not touching the ground. 
My decision will be final. We have an event to have fun at, not get technical, legal, and scientific for a silly prize. 

Now chop, chop, chop! Then roll, roll, roll.

I've got Wednesday March 20 marked on my calendar for Choppernite #63.

Still plenty of time to get out the Long Tall Sally Chopper.

And the moon will be almost full with and illumination of 98.8% Nice for night riding. Moon rises at 6:59 pm.

To play the minigame, you must know the code word.

Code word will be shared HERE on THIS thread, minimum 24 hours before we leave Southern and Washington.

You may share EVERY bit of this information, even the code word, but the more people you help cheat this idea of coming to the forum by just TELLING them the codeword, the LOWER YOUR chances of WINNING our minigame! When I heard Mini Games and Krusher, I immediately thought of him riding his tallbike sitting backwards on the handlebars.

Looks like its going to be a beautiful night for riding freakbikes. (What a difference a day makes.)

Alex's full scratch custom handmade bike has beautifully curved square tube on the frame with meticulous detail to the mitering and joining. Fine craftmanship shows through the whole bike.

One of the few items that were off the shelf failed. A $5 sprocket retaining snap ring kept popping off. It was an unforeseen failure, you never know when they will fail until they do. The bike was repaired twice then pushed to the halfway point.  Alex still got bike of the nite cup and well deserved too.

It was still an enjoyable night - being with friends makes it all worthwhile.

This last Choppernite might be among the worst.

The things Junkman mentioned were truly refreshing as all the other things that were happening trying to ruin it.

The GOOD (!):

Considering the weather was not perfect, we had Junkman, myself, and a few other dedicated riders which made it a more intimate affair. The weather was never bad enough to run for cover so we were able to enjoy each others company easier.

Eastwood made arrangements for Alex to bring the Junkman Cup, and Harvey returned with the Son Of Bike Of The Nite Cup. These are big and were very appreciated acts. Alex WON The Son Of The Bike Of The Nite Cup, and Harvey won the Junkman Cup. So they traded trophies! Easy!

Harvey went on to win our feature contest having the longest bike, winning a prize our of the prize bag. And... I cant remember who had the tallest bike??!? Little help? DId we not have time for this!?? I cant remember?

Junkman didn't kill me. 

On our way North, the group had a few mechanicals that the riders stuck together for to make it work.

Junkman led our riders bike to the Greek Church due to my flat issue. Which brings us to the bad...

The Bad:

The weather kept people away as an easy excuse.

One person knew the code word for the minigame.

Which we didn't have time for,

because we didn't leave on time,

I didn't wait for anyone when I left at 7:30.

We had a few mechanicals that I couldn't help with because I didn't wait for anyone.

I made Junkman really mad because I was an A-hole not waiting for anyone. Ever.

I had a flat 1 mile into our ride South so I had to walk home (i'm close).

To try to fix these problems to make Choppernite better each time, I will make changes for next Choppernite.

Options include:

1. Having two leave times. One at 7:30 for those ready to leave on time, and another with another ride captain that will leave when those people are ready.

2. To wait until EVERYONE is ready and we'll all leave together. This seems great, but could drag on. Experience speaks here.

3. To change the ride out spot. Instead of Southern and Washington, two known streets that has been our leave spot for more than 10 years, we'll leave closer to where most of the riders park. I've noticed a lot of riders park, unload, and stay near their vehicles, only moving when they see others riding North, ...not seeing or hearing me yelling "LETS GO!". So being too far from our leave spot, they cant hear me say were leaving...on time. So this idea is to change the OFFICIAL ride out spot.

4. Not CHANGE anything, but to remind riders 5 minutes prior to leave time WHERE and WHEN we're leaving from.

5. An idea I haven't mentioned that you have.

6. A combination of ALL or NONE of these ideas.

Help bring the change this ride needs to have. In a rare move, I understand I am ruining Choppernite. I will implement the changes discussed here.  

I will also look into starting a Facebook page with the intention of giving riders what they've asked for. A Choppernite page with a link to the information here. I don't know how this will work, but I will begin the process.

FIRST LOOK!!

NEXT Choppernite, #64, will be June 19th, 2019. This is the 3rd Wednesday in a third month, as per our schedule. A theme will be decided, and shared, AT LEAST a month in advance on its own thread here.
