Today July 5 2015 Took my new Trek 930S for its madin off road adventure. It has been a slow work in progress... Last Spring garbaged picked up a all grey primered bike. Seen it had some good components on it but just another bike.. After awhile I took a look at it to see what I was going to do with it. Started looking at what it had and man it had some nice components. RoxShock fork, decent derailures, crank wheels. What is it?? Under the primer i seen Trek. What the?? So I disassembled the bike and used the Citrus strip to get all the primer off. It was a Trek 930S. S meaning suspension. It has the Rox Shock Quadra on it. Which is just an elastomer but it also has preload adjustment. They also made the 930 with a ridgid fork. So using the Citrus strip it took the primer off and did not damage the factory paint or decals. When I used the stripper I did small areas the primer bubbled up quick then I wiped it down and rinsed it off with water so NOT to damage the paint. Every nut, bolt cable ect had to be cleaned with stripper. Alot of work but it is a nice Trek in its day. The 930S Singletrack was an higher end agressive off road bike, Crome Moly frame with the Quadra suspension fork. This one is a 1995 and list price back them was $600. I did see this bike was not loved. So I took everything apart to check clean and lube. Wheels, crank, and the complete fork. I never had a suspension fork apart but with a couple of tools I did it and it needed a cleaning and lube. The bottom bracket as they call it was a type I never had apart. screwed into the frame. It is a cartrige and say just buy a new one.. Yea right.. I got it apart and cleaned the bearings and greased it up and it works great!! Tuched up the frame paint some. I really like the paint colors Black and Ice Copper.. Got it all back together and adjusted it all up. Now I remember why I do not like the catilever brakes. Just a pain to adjust.. I did put on the Trek rack. Resonable off ebay. It had the bosses on the frame for it and this one fite correct. Looks good!! This bike is a small frame 16.5 I would take a Med or Large. SO I put on a decent seat post and some 5 inch black riser bars. It also has a longer stem than most. Measuring it and comparing it to my other bikes I ride they are close!! I have been doing some test ride the last weeks and all seams to shift and brake well. Bearing adjustments are holding. The ride off road was about 4 miles and all went well, just some missed shifts. Could use a rear tire. Notice the cords spliting in one spot. I think this one is a keeper. Hey it even has a anti chain suck bracket by the crank. Never even new there was a part like that !!! Befor and after
