I gave out the clues already so don't go over thinking this that the clues will be at the NEXT Critical Mass.
Speaking of over thinking, the details on the flyer are all EXACTLY right. Be at the meet-up ON time. If your not there at 12:01am, and you show up at 12:15am...we MIGHT be GONE already. ALL of my events that I have ANY control over, punctuality is king. Exceptions have been made but they involved police, death, or a LOT of blood. None of these things you want to invoke to get an acceptable late arrival.

This is also Tri-Rail friendly, sort of. If you take the last train North P648, get off at West Palm Beach station at 11:25pm Thursday, PLENTY of time to get to the meet up spot. Race is over, go BACK to the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station to get back on the first train out at 4:06am Friday morning, train P601. Easy. How much? Depends where you got on, get off at. No one way ticket will be more than $6.90. (Not including MetroRail if you need it) DO NOT BUY A 'ROUND TRIP' TICKET because you wont be coming back Thursday. Your coming back South, Friday morning. Duh. Link to Tri-Rail

No bitching either about where I send you. EVERY checkpoint I MYSELF went to on my bike. At dark thirty. You WILL be afraid though and you will want to complain.
Past fright areas include i95, the hood, Worth Ave, Moonfest in full swing, busy parking garages. Nothing is off limits. In the past I've left off areas riders complained about, told them "no hood" for example. They still didn't show again. SO no promises as to your perceived safety. Again, you will be afraid. I'm now going to offer a reward for those who come HERE for the true real from-the-source info. Some suggestions.
You need no bag but a manifest works a lot longer in a ziplock to keep sweat and R-word (rhymes with pain) off your valuable map. Pockets are a good idea too. You will have to carry something the size of a pencil and of course, your manifest.
A smart phone is not needed as I will be giving you all a map with the checkpoints marked well. I will easily answer all questions at the start and during the race. BUT if your out and about, a quick map check, zoom in, on a smart phone makes life a lot easier.
A flashlight is NOT needed but if you think a checkpoint is down the dark alley (it wont be), you can shine the light down there to move on in your search KNOWING that that was not it.
A compass. Not kidding. All of my instructions will refer to North, South, East, and West. If you lose your bearings, the compass will set you straight. Again, you wont need it until this happens. No compass? You'll have to ride until you see a street name thats familiar.
A clipboard to ride with the manifest clipped to it. This keeps it viewable while riding 18mph dodging bums and a quick tuck behind you stows it. I do this when I race.
A pen or marker to make notes on your skin to save a manifest pull-out which slowly destroys it.
Something to tell time with. We start ON time. The flyer says meet up at 12:01am. THIS is when I will start talking to the racers. The later you are, the less info you get. Again BE ON TIME. Like its a job, because thats what an alleycat simulates.
This has been your reward for coming to the source.
Good luck Halloween morning.

Our recap of the race. This race went off with only one hitch. I mixed up one check point as South Olive when it should have been North Olive. Besides that, ALL went as planned. I apologized to the racers personally. Plenty of maps and manifests, all racers accounted for at race end. Racers who showed on time received a bonus option. 3 minutes off their overall time if they logged what time they were at each checkpoint. Our three clues given out at West Palm Beach Crtical Mass were: 1. The finish location 2. The race range 3 A pass on a particular checkpoint. Time is the time of morning when racer came in after bonus calculated, NOT time it took to complete the manifest. * denotes a racer as having done WPB Critical Mass, receiving the 3 clues there. 1. Alex Morris* 1:40 1st Place Overall 1st Out of Towner (Lake Worth) 1st Fixed 1st Freakbiker 1st Place Bearded 2. Sebastian Cobos 1:49 1st Team Shift For Brains 3. Lee Lietzke* 1:54 4. This race NOW brought in $80 to go towards the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. I'm proud to ride beside you. TIII
